GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 629429
"May" have the same expression of short and full form with "GDateTime" msgctxt
Last modified: 2010-09-14 03:48:58 UTC
In glib's translation file, "May" have the same expression of short and full form with "GDateTime" msgctxt. This will make translators unable to adjust translations of short form and full form and the only way to keep all in good shape is make them the same. Please change this, by adding a different msgctxt is probably a way.
Is there a reason why the translations are done via gettext as opposed to asking the C library? Code for using the C library can be found in goffice's goffice/util/datetime.c at the bottom. (It's actually going via GDate, but it basically boils down to using strftime.)

Sorry I don't why glib developers is doing this, in fact we already have translations for all kinds of date format in GNU coreutils (`date' command) so I think translating them is not that useful.
