patch for proposed simple enhancement.

Description of problem:
    Many of the comments fields from 2.11.x are similar to those in
    2.10.x, eg. place, note, time.  Why not make 2.10.x able to read
    comments from 2.11.x.  It would be very simple change, only a few
    lines.  Eg. We have these note fields in 2.11.x and 2.10.x:
        <Note>this is a test msg.</Note>      # 2.10.x
        <note>this is a test msg.</note>      # 2.11.x
    The only difference is "Note" and "note".  Please see the attached
    proposed patch for the simple enhancement.

    If you think this is a bad idea, please let me know why and close
    this bug.  Thanks.

version 2.10 is obsolete, just use version 2.12
