GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 628289
Cannot Create New Folder in Extract Dialogue
Last modified: 2012-02-20 21:06:13 UTC
For a while now, I intermittently have a problem where when I open an archive and enter the extract dialogue, I am unable to create a new folder in the directory I want to extract the archive to. When I click the "Create Folder" button, a new folder will momentarily appear in the directory displayed in the extract dialogue window, with "Type name of new folder" highlighted as expected. And then after a second, before I can type the name of the new folder, the folder disappears. If I click again the same thing repeats. If I type fast, a name will start to be filled in, in the new folder, but it will still disappear after a second. This only happens sometimes (although I would say more often than not). I've had the problem for several months, but had never had it before in many previous versions of Gnome. My sense is that the problem appeared with the upgrade to Gnome 2.30, although I don't recall. I'm using Arch Linux, kernel 2.6.35, with Gnome 2.30.
the "Create Folder" button is part of the GtkFileChooserDialog widget, reassigning to gtk+
