Description Atri 2010-08-27 14:33:23 UTC
It would be useful to have the UI reflect in some clearly visible way that the option "Stop when finished" is enabled. It is rather inconvenient to keep ascertaining whether this option is enabled by clicking on the menu every time. I suggest modifying the "Next" button in the toolbar of the main GUI to achieve this (such as adding a small stop symbol over it).

Additionally, it would also help to have some indication of this in the tooltip that appears when one hovers on the banshee notification-area icon, and a way to uncheck the option from there so that a user can look up the status of this option without having to bring up the full GUI.

The second part of your request is Bug 549173, and there's actually a working patch available (...has been for a year and a half, actually). I'm not sure why it hasn't been committed - maybe you should bug one of the maintainers on IRC. :)

And the first part of your request I absolutely agree with. I often use the keyboard shortcut to enable "Stop when finished," but then I end up clicking on the menu anyway to make sure that it worked. This completely defeats the purpose of using the keyboard shortcut, so yes, it would be very nice to get some immediate visual feedback.

Slightly related to this: Bug 552017 Comment 3.

Thanks for pointing this out. Seems like a simple enough fix :)

Sorry for talking without contributing much, but this is one of the things that have been identified as one of the little niggles of the GNOME desktop in openSUSE [Banshee is the default media player]. Is it possible to look at fixing this by the next version release of Banshee (or within the timeframe of openSUSE's feature freeze for 11.4 which is on Dec 16).

Thanks.

Banshee is not under active development anymore and had its last code changes more than three years ago. Its codebase has been archived.

Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect
reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project
to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is being shut down) if anyone takes the
responsibility for active development again.
