GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 627430
reports - date range presets
Last modified: 2018-06-29 22:43:22 UTC
On the General tab, the To/From drop-downs offer: start/end of current/previous month/quarter/year but only start/end of [current] Financial Period Just like for the other date ranges, you should offer both current and previous Financial Period. I also notice a naming inconsistency: in Preferences you refer to Accounting Period, in report options you use the term Financial Period.
Thank you for reporting this. The naming inconsistency has been fixed in version 2.3.15. "Accounting period" is now used across the whole application. The other part of this report, offering both current and previous accounting periods make sense, but I have no idea how that could be implemented right now. GnuCash doesn't know a previous accounting period, only a current one. It may not be obvious to reliably deduce what the previous accounting period was based on that information alone.
Preferences->Accounting Period and report options offer the same relative date range options: start/end of current/previous month/quarter/year If the Accounting Period is specified in relative terms, the previous period could be deduced. For instance: if AP start = Year start, previous AP start could be mapped onto previous Year start. If the AP has been specified in absolute terms, grey previous AP options out on report tab. This suggestion has to be viewed in conjunction with the idea documented on https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=627432.
