GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 626934
Library Watcher is not updating Library with newer files automatically
Last modified: 2010-09-23 15:39:41 UTC
Created attachment 167869 [details] Log file I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 and Banshee 1.7.3 from PPA. The problem with this release (and all past releases) on my machine is that the Music Library does not get updated when I add files to my music folder. The folder in question is not on the root or home partition but on a separate fat32 partition. I don't think that should be a problem for the player but it doesn't update the Library. Not even upon restarting. I have to manually add the files which is very frustrating. If some one could help with this it would be much appreciated.
Was your version of banshee built with gio-sharp support?
How can I check that? There is no mention of gio-sharp in "Version Information" under Help in Banshee.
Then it is not enabled. AFAIK library watching doesn't work without it.
Thank you. I'll see if I can file a bug with Ubuntu.
I don't think gio-sharp is needed for library watching. Mono >= 2.4.3 is required, but that's already in Ubuntu 10.04. Please check the following things : - In the preferences dialog, in the "Extensions" tab, is the "Library Watcher" (in the Utilities section) extension checked ? - Does your music folder configured in the "Source Specific" tab match the one where you're adding files ?
Library Watcher extension is enabled and source is set to the folder where i'm adding files.
After a recent system update, the problem seems resolved. Songs added in the source folder show up in Banshee.
Closing as FIXED then.
