Description piccolino81 2010-08-14 00:23:42 UTC
It would be nice to 'slide' through an image gallery more smoothly. Therefore the image viewer should pre-fetch the next and previous (if sliding backwards) image.

Furthermore it should keep a certain amount of images within a special cache. For example 3 'next' and 3 'previous' images should be sufficient for sliding easygoing through one gallery.

Another tricky task.

7 uncompressed images in memory make our memory requirements skyrocket. Loading 7 images from my digicam at once would use over 300MB of RAM which is a lot in comparision.

Why not using compressed AND (to screen resolution) 'scaled' images in memory? Do they use as much memory, as they would in original size?
