Description Christoph Anton Mitterer 2010-08-13 23:40:18 UTC
Hi.

1) The clock in gdm should allow to fully configure the date time format, with format strings e.g. as used by date(1) and strftime(3).

2) It should further provide several common formats to choose (e.g. English, German, ISO style).

3) It should allow to be configured to use the system local's date and time representation. This should also be the default.

Cheers,
Chris.

How exactly and where should this be configurable? UI? If so, where and how? GConf key?
Comment 2 Christoph Anton Mitterer 2010-08-24 13:32:39 UTC
Well,... for the clock applet this seems to be already configurable via gconf at least.

But (as I've already suggested there) this should be more user visibly configurable (i.e. via some GUI).

I'd suggest the Login Screen configuration GUI (gdmsetup).

The old GDM supported the ability to use a 24-hour clock. However, being able to provide the date via a format string would be nicer. Even if there is no nice GUI for configuring this, sysadmins should be able to specify how they want the date/time to appear.
