Description Christoph Anton Mitterer 2010-08-13 23:39:37 UTC
Hi.

1) The clock applet should allow to fully configure the date time format, with format strings e.g. as used by date(1) and strftime(3).

2) It should further provide several common formats to choose (e.g. English, German, ISO style).

3) It should allow to be configured to use the system local's date and time representation. This should also be the default.

Cheers,
Chris.

Ok then it is technically possible, but
a) it would be better if it can be easily configured (i.e. not via gconf, as end users usually tend to not know where the respective settings are)

b) the default should still be the setting of the user's locale.

Therefore reopening it for now, with the enhancement suggestions from above.

Guess this would automatically "solve" #626895 too.

I also think, that gdm should use the system local's time/date format per default.

This is usually well chosen by the sysadmin.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use gnome-panel and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
