GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 626780
Exporting changes spaces to %20
Last modified: 2018-07-01 08:57:01 UTC
Often this is just an aesthetic nuisance. But sometimes it adds so much to the filename length that it exceeds the max file name length. E.g: [Error 22:13:14.488] System.IO.PathTooLongException: Path is too long. Path: /home/dougie/Roberta Marshall -- HPANEWG -- Causey Arch -- Peter Acheson -- Reuben Acheson -- Debbie Blythe -- Deb Wilson -- Kirsty Foster -- Findlay Waller -- Margaret Wilson -- Molly Waller -- Sun 30 Mar 2008 09-36-01 AM BST.jpg" or "/home/dougie/southportpc/Roberta%20Marshall%20--%20HPANEWG%20--%20Causey%20Arch%20--%20Peter%20Acheson%20--%20Reuben%20Acheson%20--%20Debbie%20Blythe%20--%20Deb%20Wilson%20--%20Kirsty%20Foster%20--%20Findlay%20Waller%20--%20Margaret%20Wilson%20--%20Molly%20Waller%20--%20Sun%2030%20Mar%202008%2009-36-01%20AM%20BST.jpg at System.IO.File.Copy (System.String sourceFileName, System.String destFileName, Boolean overwrite) [0x00000] at FSpot.Exporters.Folder.FolderGallery.ProcessImage (Int32 image_num, FSpot.Filters.FilterSet filter_set) [0x00000] at FSpot.Exporters.Folder.FolderExport.Upload () [0x00000]
This is a pain. I'm now using a script hack to s/%20/ /g after every export. dougie@pheonix:~/2plas$ ls Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2001-26-06%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2001-27-28%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2001-36-24%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2001-36-39%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2001-38-14%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2001-38-23%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2001-38-29%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2001-38-41%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2001-39-34%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2001-39-39%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-00-59%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-01-20%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-01-29%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-01-46%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-01-58%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-11-42%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-11-50%20PM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-54-37%20AM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-54-51%20AM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-55-28%20AM%20BST.jpg Plas%20Tan%20y%20Bwlch%20--%20Sat%2014%20Aug%202010%2008-55-36%20AM%20BST.jpg
This post http://mail.gnome.org/archives/f-spot-list/2011-January/msg00002.html on the mailing list explains how to drag and drop from f-spot, which also seems to get round this problem.
f-spot is not under active development anymore, has not seen code changes for five years, and saw its last tarball release in the year 2010. Its codebase has been archived: https://gitlab.gnome.org/Archive/f-spot/commits/master Closing this report as WONTFIX as part of Bugzilla Housekeeping to reflect reality. Please feel free to reopen this ticket (or rather transfer the project to GNOME Gitlab, as GNOME Bugzilla is deprecated) if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
