I have a suggestion for Vinagre. What do you think about disabling "localhost" as target for vpn? When you try to connect to "localhost", this is a recursive progress (see screenshot).

Connecting to localhost is a valid option if you are running KVM virtual machines on your local host. It would have to be more advanced, querying whether 'vino' is active and what port number it is listening on, in order to distinguish a local desktop VNC service from a KVM guest (or something else).
Comment 2 André Klapper 2021-05-26 09:25:56 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of Vinagre, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new enhancement request ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/vinagre/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
