gimp-win 2.7.1 from http://sf.net/projects/gimp-win/files/ consistently crashes when I do the following:
1. install gimp fresh
2. start gimp
3. make new image
4. click text tool A icon
5. click in image to put in text

it crashes with the following dialog:
Microsoft Viual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: c:\program files\gimp 2.7\bin\gimp-2.7.exe

this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application' support team for more information.

in the debug window I see:
This is a development version of GIMP.  Debug messages may appear here.
