Description Angel Abad 2010-07-20 12:24:28 UTC
In Ubuntu scribe reported:

= Steps to reproduce =

1. Open Nautilus

2. Go to Bookmarks -> Edit

3. Click on a bookmark and change it's location

= Result =

The "Name" field is automatically changed to the last segment in the location. Example:

Location: /var/www/public_html

Resulting name: public_html

= Why it's annoying =

I like to store FTP paths as bookmarks, and they all have similar endings:

ftp://user@example-1.com/var/www/public_html

ftp://user@example-2.com/var/www/public_html

So I give them names other than 'public_html', to differentiate them.

But, with this feature, every time I edit one of these bookmarks, I have to do at least two extra actions to preserve the old name.

I'm pretty sure there are other situations in which this behaviour actually hurts usability.

= Proposed solution =

Change the name only if the old name matched the old location.

Thanks!
