GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 624681
[templates] Massive memory leak while formatting email
Last modified: 2010-10-01 04:21:14 UTC
Upgraded to gnome 2.30 on my Gentoo desktop. Evolution starts normally, but when mail contents is requested, the formatting message take about 5 seconds in which about 500MB of memory is leaked. After few mails my system memory is full. What further information do you need?

evolution: 2.30.2 evolution-data-server: 2.30.2 I'm using 4 imap and 2 pop mailing accounts. When evolution starts, almost no ram is eaten. After I switch to my Inbox view, it eats about 500MB of ram. Further, formatting an email eats another 500MB. I have zero experience with memory profiling, if you have some guidelines I'm willing to help. Here is quick test: 1. I opened evolution 2. Switched to Index 3. Opened random mail Results: Evolution uses 1.7GB ram of which 800MB is used in [heap].
Ok, I have tracked the bug and found the bugger: templates plugin. If I disable the template plugin, evolution works flawlessly.
Can you please valgrind it?
Closing this bug report as no further information has been provided. Please feel free to reopen the bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME 2.32.0 or later, thanks.
