GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 623727
Slight mangling of start of message body for saved draft messages
Last modified: 2021-05-19 11:57:02 UTC
Observing two slight manglings of the start of the message body, for a saved draft email in Evo 2.28.1 and 2.28.3. Steps to reproduce: * File -> New -> Mail message. * Type some random characters (for the "To" field), press Tab key. * Type some random characters (for the "Subject" field), press Tab key. * Enter as the very first line of the message body "abcdefghijklmnop" (without any line breaks before this text or inside it, and without the quotes). * Close the draft, and say "Save message". * Reopen the draft message. What should happen: The message body should be exactly the same as when it was open before (i.e. just "abcdefghijklmnop" without any line breaks before it or inside it). What actually happens: I observe 2 possible results. The result is _either_ a): "a| bcdefghijklmnop" ... where "|" marks the cursor focus. I.e. first character, then the cursor/focus, then line break, then rest of the first line. ... or the result is b): " | abcdefghijklmnop" (i.e. an additional line break, then the cursor/focus, then an additional line break, then the first line). In case a) I use an account/from address _with_ a signature enabled, and in case b) I use an account/from address with _no_ signature enabled. Additional information: * In gconf, I do have /apps/evolution/mail/composer/no_signature_delim set to true, as per bug 551470 (not sure if that's relevant or not). * The draft emails are plain text emails. I tested 2.28.1 with HTML mails (as well as plain text), and the same thing happened.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version, then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/Community/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new bug report ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evolution/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
