Description sf 2010-07-06 08:17:42 UTC
Given the schema test.xsd

<schema xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" elementFormDefault="q
ualified">
  <element name="schema">
    <complexType>
      <sequence>
        <element name="dummy" minOccurs="0"/>
        <sequence minOccurs="0">
          <element name="element"/>
          <element name="dummy" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
        </sequence>
      </sequence>
      <attribute name="elementFormDefault"/>
      <attribute name="targetNamespace"/>
    </complexType>
  </element>
</schema>

running

xmllint --noout --schema test.xsd test.xsd

results in

test.xsd:4: element complexType: Schemas parser error : local complex type: The content model is not determinist.
WXS schema test.xsd failed to compile

But the content model IS deterministic!

After changing "unbounded" to a number (e.g. 2) one correctly gets

test.xsd validates
Comment 1 GNOME Infrastructure Team 2021-07-05 13:22:06 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libxml2/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
