Description William Jon McCann 2010-06-28 02:22:34 UTC
When watching movies at night it is useful to have a mode that limits the dynamic range of the audio. Otherwise in order to hear the dialog you have to turn the volume up so high that gunshots and other peaky/bassy sounds wake the neighbors.

Some theater systems offer a night mode that works well for this case.

We could apparently use the "audiodynamic" plugin, but it's a bit sucky (I've been told).

Sebastian mentions that this might be better implement in PulseAudio.
