Description Ed Halley 2001-10-13 23:08:45 UTC
In most context menu situations, in GNOME and in GIMP in particular, the
menu is positioned so that an accidental mouse click won't invoke any of
the context menu items.

That is, the menu appears away from the mouse pointer's exact position, or
it appears at a place where the mouse release does not invoke any items
(such as on the rip-off perforation).

In the gradient editor, the context menu for the gradient area itself
appears where the top item is always under the mouse. This makes
accidental right-clicks of the mouse invoke the top item of that menu.

The gradient editor's context menu should appear away from the mouse
pointer's exact position to be more consistent with other menus and avoid
this accidental-invoking behavior.

Easily confirmed. The first item in the context menu calls the color
editor for the left endpoint's color. So even if it is annoying to
invoke it accidentally, this would not do any harm because the user
can easily cancel it.

Anyway, it would be nice if the pop-up menu could be moved a few
pixels down.

Fixed in the HEAD branch.
Comment 3 Sven Neumann 2003-03-06 15:07:38 UTC
Won't be fixed in the stable branch since it is not a severe problem.
