Created attachment 163993 [details] cheese-debug Bug first reported in lp: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cheese/+bug/593136 Cheese can record videos. but it gets choppy and stutters for me after a few minutes of recording (approximately 2 and half minutes). Once it reaches this stage, it will not create the temporary video or a preview for the temporary video. Trying to play the video will often times work properly until the choppiness, kicks in. I only use 640x480 mode. Ouptut of is attached: GST_DEBUG=*cheese*:3 cheese -v 2>&1 | tee cheese-debug.log The video (appeneded with chopiness in archive) was extremely choppy throughout. I stopped it at about 3minutes. --- Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Release Candidate i386 (20100419.1) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard Compaq Presario CQ50 Notebook PC NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia wl Package: cheese 2.30.1-0ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: i386 ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-22-generic root=UUID=62df2de2-de71-4007-9044-c55f26e20379 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.36-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Tags: lucid Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic i686 UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout dip fax floppy fuse lpadmin plugdev sambashare tape video dmi.bios.date: 06/10/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: F.06 dmi.board.name: 360A dmi.board.vendor: Wistron dmi.board.version: 08.36 dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Wistron dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.06:bd06/10/2008:svnHewlett-Packard:pnCompaqPresarioCQ50NotebookPC:pvrF.06:rvnWistron:rn360A:rvr08.36:cvnWistron:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: Compaq Presario CQ50 Notebook PC dmi.product.version: F.06 dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard

The original report of the issue has switched his laptop and can probably not provide any other info about the bug , quoting: "Device referenced in this bug report has been replaced with a new computer. So I can no longer assist with this. I have a newer laptop now and it uses a different camera. I havent used it long enough to see if it gives any issues." Hence closing bug report.
