GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 621640
Postpone typing break is unavailable for 5 seconds
Last modified: 2011-02-07 20:38:01 UTC
This report was originally filed at: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/592855 Binary package hint: gnome-control-center System > Preferences > Keyboard > Typing Break Work interval lasts 59 minutes, Break interval lasts 1 minute, Allow postponing of breaks When a typing break is activated, the counter starts at 1:01 and the postpone button is greyed out until 0:56 seconds. I specifically have the allow postponing option enabled because I'm sometimes doing things I don't want to interrupt. This forces me to interrupt my session for at least 5 seconds. I upgraded to Lucid from Jaunty and didn't have this issue on Jaunty. I have gnome-control-center 1:2.30.1-0ubuntu1 installed.
This 5 second delay was deliberately added to typing-monitor in January 2010. https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/lucid-changes/2010-January/003172.html https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=597086 Please at least make this delay user-configurable. I understand why the people asking for it wanted it, but it's a major nuisance for those of us who do NOT want a large forced delay.
Fixed on master.
