Description Murray Cumming 2010-06-14 09:59:14 UTC
The xmlElementType enum has no documentation:
http://www.xmlsoft.org/html/libxml-tree.html#xmlElementType

Yet it's very important to check xmlNode::type. For instance, if I get an xmlNode* (for instance from a xmlXPathObject::xmlNodeSet* from xmlXPathEval()), then I need to check that xmlNode::type and cast to a (totally different) xmlNs* if it is XML_NAMESPACE_DECL. Not knowing this will leads to weird crashes in generic code.

On the same subject, the xmlXPathObjectType enum should also have documentation, mentioning xmlXPathObject::xmlNodeSetPtr and functions such as xmlXPathCastToBoolean(), xmlXPathCastToNumber() and xmlXPathCastToString().

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version, then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/libxml2/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
