GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 620982
Mails to beast mailing list get lost
Last modified: 2010-06-09 11:20:27 UTC
I used the beast mailing list in the past (like January this year), and my messages showed up on the list. However, all my recent mails got lost, for instance the mail with the Subject: MERGE: fix crash caused by ALSA driver (see also #577340) which I sent on 7th of June, 2010. The log file of my sendmail says: Jun 7 10:15:25 space sendmail[20507]: o57AFMkt020507: to=timj@gtk.org,beast@gnome.org, ctladdr=stefan (1000/1000), delay=00:00:03, xdelay=00:00:01, mailer=relay, pri=61293, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], +dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (o57AFOUD020508 Message accepted for delivery) Jun 7 10:15:38 space sm-mta[20517]: o57AFOUD020508: to=<beast@gnome.org>, ctladdr=<stefan@space.twc.de> (1000/1000), delay=00:00:14, xdelay=00:00:13, mailer=esmtp, pri=151416, relay=mail.gnome.org. +[209.132.180.169], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (Ok: queued as 9C66F7502A2) which looks like my system is sending the mail correctly. Finally, I looked on the mailing list moderation web site, http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/admindb/beast but my mail is not held there either. Note that the mail to gnome-sysadmin also got lost (Subject: Mails to beast mailing list get lost) There is some note about greylisting in the mail.log: space:/var/log# grep gnome-sy mail* mail.info.0:Jun 7 11:37:03 space sendmail[21312]: o57Bb2gF021312: to=gnome-sysadmin@gnome.org, ctladdr=stefan (1000/1000), delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=31503, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (o57Bb35c021313 Message accepted for delivery) mail.info.0:Jun 7 11:37:16 space sm-mta[21322]: o57Bb35c021313: to=<gnome-sysadmin@gnome.org>, ctladdr=<stefan@space.twc.de> (1000/1000), delay=00:00:13, xdelay=00:00:13, mailer=esmtp, pri=121655, relay=mail.gnome.org. 1. Your delivering the mail directly to mail.gnome.org 2. http://wiki.apache.org/spamassassin/Rules/FH_HELO_EQ_D_D_D_D (helo address is not like a server) Fixing #2 would already let it through. Thanks for the analysis, I was able to fix my sendmail configuration to use a proper hostname (space.twc.de), and mails to the beast list work again. I'm closing the bug.
