GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 620794
Totem fails to play a new file if the previous file had subtitles which were disabled.
Last modified: 2015-01-10 14:27:53 UTC
Using the mkv file format I load a file with Swedish subtitles. As I do not speak or read Swedish I disable the subtitles by selecting 'View'>'Subtitles'>'None'. I then use Nautilus to load a new file. This new file may or may not include subtitles. The file loads in Totem showing the correct filename in the Playlist. Totem displays its status as 'Playing' but the time displays as '0:00 / 0:00'. Any menu selections leaves artifacts in the video window. If at any point subtitles are set to 'Auto' again ('View'>'Subtitles'>'Auto') files will again load a play normally. I am running Debian Testing/Unstable. I believe this problem was present in previous versions of Totem but I do not have a list. I can provide any feedback necessary. Thanks.
Which version of totem are you using?
Sorry, Totem: 2.30.2 Gstreamer: 0.10.29

I can confirm this is still present with Totem: 3.0.0 Gstreamer: 0.10.32

Do you still see this in Totem 3.6 (GStreamer 1.0 based)?
joelbrunetti, Damien: Do you still see this in Totem 3.14 or 3.12?
and you can't test this yourself ???
Works fine for me with totem 3.14 and gstreamer 1.4.4 as in debian sid. Please re-open or file a new bug if it's still an issue.
(In reply to comment #8) > and you can't test this yourself ??? No, as you did not provide a testcase to make it easy for others to reproduce. Plus it does not scale if I tried to reproduce *everything* myself (I do try tro reproduce reports when I have enough time and when there is a testcase though).
