On ubuntu 10.04, I tried the installation via GIT repository. Here is the error I get:

$ git clone git://git.gnome.org/mousetrap
Initialized empty Git repository in /home/yyy/mousetrap/.git/
remote: Counting objects: 1298, done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (1055/1055), done.
fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly
fatal: early EOF
fatal: index-pack failed

Not a mousetrap issue & works fine here.
