when contact goes offline, the "typing" icon should not be displayed

Originally reported at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/583966 Binary package hint: empathy When a contact goes offline, and he was typing just before going offline, the icon in the upper left corner of the conversation window remains the "typing icon", even if the contact is obviously not typing anymore, being offline. This is a very disturbing bug: if the contact’s connection is unstable, and he goes frequently offline, there is no way, in the contact window, to see that the contact is offline. So I keep waiting until he finishes to type his answer, which obviously never happens. I think this behaviour is wrong. Instead, the offline icon should be showed even if he was typing before going offline, or a message should appear in the conversation window, saying something like "your contact is now offline. You will possibly not get a reply".
Empathy Master seems to have addressed this issue already. Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use. By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME. Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
