What were you doing when the application crashed? I hit control-w to close an email view window while a reponse to that email was being sent Distribution: Debian squeeze/sid Gnome Release: 2.30.0 2010-04-26 (Debian) BugBuddy Version: 2.30.0 System: Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 SMP Mon May 17 17:51:57 UTC 2010 x86_64 X Vendor: The X.Org Foundation X Vendor Release: 10707000 Selinux: No Accessibility: Disabled GTK+ Theme: Clearlooks Icon Theme: gnome GTK+ Modules: gnomebreakpad, canberra-gtk-module Memory status: size: 1005965312 vsize: 1005965312 resident: 291250176 share: 26386432 rss: 291250176 rss_rlim: 18446744073709551615 CPU usage: start_time: 1274238166 rtime: 15482 utime: 13198 stime: 2284 cutime:64 cstime: 146 timeout: 0 it_real_value: 0 frequency: 100 Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/evolution' [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] [New Thread 0x7f43fd6d1910 (LWP 11631)] [New Thread 0x7f44035a2910 (LWP 9042)] [New Thread 0x7f44025a0910 (LWP 9041)] [New Thread 0x7f440b5f0910 (LWP 9031)] [New Thread 0x7f440bdf1910 (LWP 9030)] [New Thread 0x7f440c5f2910 (LWP 9029)] [New Thread 0x7f440cdf3910 (LWP 9028)] [New Thread 0x7f440d5f4910 (LWP 9027)] [New Thread 0x7f440ddf5910 (LWP 9026)] [New Thread 0x7f440e5f6910 (LWP 9025)] [New Thread 0x7f440edf7910 (LWP 9024)] [New Thread 0x7f440f5f8910 (LWP 9023)] [New Thread 0x7f440fdf9910 (LWP 9022)] [New Thread 0x7f4416116910 (LWP 9020)] [New Thread 0x7f4415915910 (LWP 9015)] [New Thread 0x7f4416917910 (LWP 9013)] [New Thread 0x7f4417118910 (LWP 9012)] [New Thread 0x7f4417b42910 (LWP 9011)] [New Thread 0x7f4418343910 (LWP 9010)] 0x00007f442698f5fd in __libc_waitpid (pid=11635, stat_loc=<value optimized out>, options=0) at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/waitpid.c:41 in ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/waitpid.c

Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately, that stack trace is not very useful in determining the cause of the crash. Could you please install some debugging packages [1] and reproduce the crash, if possible? Once bug-buddy pops up, you can find the stack-trace in the "details", now containing way more information. Please copy that stack-trace and paste it as a comment here. Thanks! [1] debugging packages for evolution, evolution-data-server, evolution-exchange and gtkhtml, plus debugging packages for some basic GNOME libs. More details can be found here: http://live.gnome.org/GettingTraces/DistroSpecificInstructions
Going point, I thought I already had the debugging packages installed. I do, but not on my workstation at work. Installed now, I'll see if I can trigger this crash again in the morning.
please Vibha add the status NEEDINFO when the stack trace is not very useful. thank :-)
