Evolution Error Message

When a ".eml" file is received as an attachment, Evolution reports that the file cannot be found within the relevant cache folder. When the cache folder is manually checked against the path supplied in the error message it is found to be empty.

This error occurs woth all ".eml" attachments no matter what the source.

I also tried to perform a "save as" on the file but on clicking save the dialogue window just flashed and would not save the file (due to it not being in the cache).

Evolution version is 2.28.3. OS is as follows:

Linux xps-laptop 2.6.32-21-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 16 08:09:38 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux

If I can help out with providing any log file information then just let me know what you need.

I have attached a screenshot of the error message below.

Apologies but I appear to have filed this bug too early. It transpired that the group permissions on the 'cache' folder were set to read only which prevented the attached ".eml" files being written to the folder. Now that I have changed those settings the attached files presenting and opening correctly.

I am not sure why this was only affecting ".eml" files though as all other attachments (doc, odt etc) were all working correctly.

I believe this occured as a result of me using an evolution.tar.gz file to move my email setting from an old drive that was failing to the new installation on the repacement drive. The user and group were the same on the old system so I am not sure why the permissions were changed.

Anyhow, it appears that this bug has been files in error.

A somewhat similar ".eml" attachment bug was filed yesterday (bug #618912). Closing this as NOTABUG but I'll add a note to the other bug to double check how we handle cache permissions.
