GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 618703
SSL + IRC Never Uses SSL
Last modified: 2010-11-26 02:57:14 UTC
"On Lucid, when trying to use SSL + IRC to connect to Freenode, no combination of settings will ever actually use SSL. According to Freenode's docs, they support SSL on 7000, and 7070. I've tried setting up a new IRC server with chat.freenode.net:7000 and 7070, every time it connects over port 6667. I've verified with tcpdump that the connections are plain text." originally reported at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/574818
Could you please attach idle logs (from the debug menu) when connecting? I tried and it seems to connect using SSL. But bug #618883 makes confusing to tweak IRC accounts configuration.
There's some sensitive stuff in that log - I don't feel comfortable posting that publicly. Can I grep it for you to glean what you need?
I'm interested about these lines: (telepathy-idle:31788): tp-glib/params-DEBUG: tp_cm_param_setter_offset: server = "irc.freenode.net" (telepathy-idle:31788): tp-glib/params-DEBUG: tp_cm_param_setter_offset: port = 6667 = 0x1a0b (telepathy-idle:31788): tp-glib/params-DEBUG: tp_cm_param_setter_offset: use-ssl = FALSE
Omer, Justin: Can you provide the requested lines of the log?
