GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 618471
tab spacing preferences do no persist
Last modified: 2015-06-16 08:22:47 UTC
I set the tab spaces to 2, and at random intervals it reverts back to 4. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 Package: gedit 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-22.33-generic 2.6.32.11+drm33.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue May 11 22:27:02 2010 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release amd64 (20100429) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gedit
are you using the modelines plugin?
Yes it was enabled. But disabling this plugin did not fix the issue. I just tried changing to 2, quit and re launched gedit and it was back to 4.
did you change the tab spacing in the statusbar or in the preferences dialog?
Preference dialog. Then hit close.
I just fired up gedit again and both the auto indentation is set again and it's back to 4 spaces for the tab. Every couple minutes this 4 spaces is reset no matter which way above I set it to two spaces.
It's happening immediately when I Control-S Save the file or when I switch tabs. Hope this helps a bit.
I've just noticed the tab spacing switches immediately from 2 to 4 if I shift-arrow to select text.
I believe I found the issue. Digging through the source of the plugin call Smart Indent I found a setting for default tab spaces set to 4. Changing it to 2 seems to have corrected the issue. I am not sure why the tab spacing would not persist even when the plugin was disable however...
Can you still reproduce this bug with a recent version of gedit?
