GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 618304
Rename 'Image Collection' to 'Gallery'
Last modified: 2010-06-14 08:17:41 UTC
'Image Collection' is an odd term and could be confusing. The term suggests a specific group of images rather than a space in which images are displayed. 'Gallery' is much better. The word is commonly associated with the viewing of images. Also, it refers to a space in which images are displayed - which much better describes this functionality than 'Image Collection'.
Hmm, okay I guess we could this. Sounds reasonable esp. when using the collection in single row mode. Though, I'm not certain yet if it should just be "Gallery" or the full "Image Gallery".
I don't have a big objection to 'Image Gallery', though I wouldn't have thought that 'Image' would be necessary - it is implicit in the word Gallery.
I went the simple route for now. commit 7d202bcf8df2563cd965b65930ff7a1ea32436bd Author: Felix Riemann <> Date: Sun Jun 13 13:27:29 2010 +0200 Rename "Image Collection" to "Image Gallery" This is more fitting. Based on proposal by Allan Day. Fixes bug #618304. This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
Nice! :)
