Description Eckhard M. Jäger 2010-05-10 10:27:37 UTC
Many web and Java file formats using Gzip (*.gz) and Zip (*.zip) for file compression. As an Example SVG (which is an XML format) can be compressed as #Name.svg.gz.
It would be great if gedit could read and save any file that is GZip compressed: - The file save dialogue needs a option checkbox "Save compressed"
- This checkbox is normally dactivated
- the ckeckbox is activated when a user uses "Save as..." and the file he opened was a compressed file
- Files that opened as compressed files must save compressed again when using the simple "Save" command
