Description Benjamin Otte (Company) 2010-05-06 13:40:49 UTC
gst-plugins-cairo is the new effort to make GStreamer video handling use Cairo.

For a general plan to action, see http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/wiki/VideoHackfest/Conclusions

The code currently exists here:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~company/gst-plugins-cairo

As of now, it requires custom Cairo and Pixman branches, get them from:
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~company/pixman/log/?h=planar
http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~company/cairo/log/?h=planar

This bug tracks the effort to get the first release out.

I guess we can close this as OBSOLETE ?

Out of curiosity, has any of the pixman/cairo support for other formats ever landed?

Should still be possible to do some cool things with cairo in 0.11/1.0, but I guess we don't need this tracker bug any more for that.
Comment 2 Benjamin Otte (Company) 2012-02-24 13:49:55 UTC
Yeah, let's close it.

And no, no code ever came out of the branches. Plus, it seems everybody is moving towards EGL these days anyway.
