As can be seen in the screenshots, the text input doesn't create new vertical space when the horizontal max is reached, but instead the entire window expands. It does work properly when paste a long uninterrupted string, like a URL for example.

I have only observed this behavior when using IRC, but it might happen during any multi-party chat - I don't know.
