Description Sense Hofstede 2010-05-01 21:02:12 UTC
The short description of Empathy that's displayed in a tooltip when you hover over the application's menu entry says "Send and receive instant messages".

However, this could be considered 'techspeak' and doesn't tell the user what she or he needs. A better description would be "Talk to people on Google Talk, Facebook, MSN and many other chat services."

This bug was originally reported by Danny Piccirillo on Launchpad in Ubuntu at <https://launchpad.net/bugs/332368>.

Thanks for the bug report. this is something that should be fixed during packaging.
Comment 2 Sense Hofstede 2010-07-09 13:13:40 UTC
This is a valid GNOME bug as the desktop file is maintained in Empathy's Git repository here.
Comment 3 Guillaume Desmottes 2010-07-09 13:20:59 UTC
I changed it to "Chat on Google Talk, Facebook, MSN, and many other chat services".

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
