this report has been filed here:

"In evolution, in contacts view, when opening a new contact dialog with "new -> contact" or Ctrl+n, the cursor is automatically put in the ICQ text-box instead of - at least in my opinion since every contact has to have a name - in the name details.

Yes, this happens in 3.2.2 also. I do not recall it happening in 2.28, although I could be wrong.

I notice that this was logged downstream in LaunchPad, and I too am running Ubuntu (currently 11.10). To anyone who is using a distro other than Ubuntu: Which field has the initial focus for you, when adding a new contact? I would like to determine if this happens in other distros, so that we determine one way or the other if it's due to any distro-specific modifications.

Sorry, just answering my own question! Just tested on a freshly-booted Fedora 16 Live CD, and it has the exact same problem - the ICQ field is highlighted by default, which strongly suggests this is an upstream Evolution issue. Attaching screenshot showing this, in Evo 3.2.1 from Fedora 16.

Still valid in 3.8.5.

Thanks for a bug report. This is fixed at least in 3.20.0, thus I'm closing it.
