Description Matthew Paul Thomas (mpt) 2010-04-25 21:53:03 UTC
According to <http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-keyring/tree/daemon/dbus/gkd-secret-unlock.c>, gnome-keyring can put up an authentication alert with this text.

Enter password for to unlock your login keyring

The "for" is the subject of bug 614462. But there's a more difficult problem here, which is that the message gives no hint of why you're being asked to unlock your keyring.

Ideal, perhaps, would be something like

The application “Evolution” wants access to your keyring to log in to your
    mail accounts.

Even something like

The application “Evolution” wants access to your keyring.

would be a vast improvement.

Yes I agree. However we need to be able to look up application names from process names (perhaps using desktop files). This is not trivial, but maybe other projects are doing the same thing.

Previously we used process names, which didn't really work at all: We ended up with stuff like: "python" would like to access...
