Could you run this (gmake V=1) in a debugger and get a stack trace of what crashes where? Presumably one of the gobject-introspection tools? (In which case I am not sure if we can do anything about this) What version of gobject-introspection are you using? Also, could you try git maybe, we changed the parameters the gobject-introspection tools are called with a bit.
Interesting clue Tim, thanks. While ports indicated that gobject-introspection was up to date, I went back and tried to rebuild it, which failed. It was last rebuilt at the end of last December. I rebuilt all of it's dependencies and then gobject-introspection rebuilt without error. I'm still working my way through hundreds of subsequent builds for gnome2. Joel
Any more updates?
Un-marking as blocker, since there's no indication that this is actually GStreamer's fault (nor is there enough information for us to act on if it was).
Hi Tim, I've been building gnome2 packages for days now. I ran into some packages that have trouble with multiple python slots. I had both python2.5 & python2.6 installed. I ran into a comment that suggested that it would be best if only one version was used so I deleted python2.5 and rebuilt everything that used python. I went through all my shared objects to verify this as I also needed to rebuild anything that linked to libpng.so.5 which the latest version of libpng deleted as it built libpng.so.6. Please run the gnomelogalyzer, available from "http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/gnomelogalyzer.sh", which will diagnose the problem and suggest a solution. If - and only if - the gnomelogalyzer cannot solve the problem, report the build failure to the FreeBSD GNOME team at gnome@FreeBSD.org, and attach (a) "/usr/ports/deskutils/alacarte/work/alacarte-0.12.4/config.log", (b) the output of the failed make command, and (c) the gnomelogalyzer output. Also, it might be a good idea to provide an overview of all packages installed on your system (i.e. an `ls /var/db/pkg`). Put your attachment up on any website, copy-and-paste into http://freebsd-gnome.pastebin.com, or use send-pr(1) with the attachment. Try to avoid sending any attachments to the mailing list (gnome@FreeBSD.org), because attachments sent to FreeBSD mailing lists are usually discarded by the mailing list software. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/deskutils/alacarte. gnomelogalyzer.sh reports nothing. checking for pygobject 2.15.1 installed for python required_python_abi... not found configure: error: required pygobject version not found Clearly not a bug. Closing.
So be it. I disagree. pygobject is installed. There are only two packages that won't build out of the entire gnome2 build. alacarte & orca. Both rely on m4, a decades old tool that should be deprecated. Both give the same nonsense error message. Joel
And the rest of GNOME also relies on m4. And builds for you. shrug... So which version of pygobject is installed? And where exactly is pygobject-2.0.pc located?
