GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 614422
Add new mime type "video/mp2t"
Last modified: 2010-05-22 11:55:34 UTC
Since march 26, 2010 there is shared-mime-info 0.71-1ubuntu1 which recognizes the new mime type "video/mp2t" alias "mpeg 2 transport streams". I successfully tested some mp2t streams in totem. Since it does support these streams, it should be added to its mimetype list under "/usr/share/applications/totem.desktop". To coordinate all changes for video/mp2t I filed https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/desktop-file-utils/+bug/552162.
According to Vincent Untz on http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27384 the totem package is also responsible for its entries in /usr/share/applications/defaults. So please also add there an entry for totem as default application for video/mp2t.
video/mp2t isn't in shared-mime-info upstream at all. The patch is only in the Ubuntu packages, so you'll need to ask them to add the patch in their Totem package.
Sorry, my fault. I'll leave another comment here when http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14276 is resolved.
