Description thunder_ratt 2010-03-27 08:18:43 UTC
Previous win32 versions seemed to have an issue with previewing code in a browser when clicking the 'View in Browser" button - but there was still an option to manually configure the commands to get it to work (not sure if a windows user did get it to ever work). See bug for an example:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=605962

Now in 2.0, both the View in Browser button and the options to edit commands are missing from the 2.0.0.1 build. I found the following statement:
2010-02-14 19:02 Olivier Sessink
	* [r5741] src/gui.c: remove 'view in browser' button on WIN32
(from http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/changelogs/ChangeLog_2_0_0)

1> Are there plans to bring this function back for Win32 versions? I just narrowed my decision on what editor to use between four editors (Bluefish, Amaya, Aptana, and Notepad++) but noticed this function has now been removed (I had 1.3.7 installed previously).

2> I can test commands on my system (Vista 32-bit) if needed, if you can bring this function back. I use Opera but also have Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari for Windows (can try Chrome if needed, but rather not).

Thanks for any information and future plans in regards to this!

*** UPDATE ***
Just saw in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=612598#c3 the following:
Olivier Sessink [bluefish developer] 2010-03-11 21:04:11 UTC
in 2.0.0 (the final version) the view in browser has been removed because it is
not functional. We hope to fix this in 2.0.1 (end quote)

I did not see that before so my bad. BUT if you need me to test the preview function in the 2.0.1 release, let me know. Otherwise, I will just check in periodically to see when next version is released. Thanks.
Comment 2 Olivier Sessink 2010-03-27 13:02:16 UTC
yes it can be tested, it should be functional in SVN right now.
Comment 3 thunder_ratt 2010-03-27 14:09:43 UTC
Latest win32 install package I could find was Bluefish-2.0.0-1-setup.exe, which is the one I currently have and does not have the view in browser option. I see current revisions, but not a windows installer based one.

It should work on 2.0.1 once you have set your browser in the preferences, can you confirm that?

From what I remember it did not have the option, but I could be wrong.
I just got a new laptop and already wiped my old one and gave it away.

I now have Windows 7 64-bit and can try to load Bluefish again on this new laptop. Worst case I can load the Linux version as soon as I narrow down the flavor - drive is already setup for it. BUT I have to use Windows for school (web development so they force Adobe on you) so would like to use Bluefish on Windows also.

I am almost done tweaking my laptop then can add some other things including Bluefish.

BTW, the missing function is not a game-stopper for using Bluefish (if it is missing), it would just be nice to have it.
