Description Pedro Villavicencio 2010-03-25 18:39:46 UTC
this bug report has been filed here:

https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/537958

rhythmbox version is: 0.12.7git20100325-0ubuntu1

"Most of the genres are only displayed as numbers in parentheses and not as the name of the genre.
Some, like "New Age", "Classical", "Rock", "Electronic" etc. are displayed (but I do not know if this is for all artists within that genre or not), but most are shown as for instance "(10)", "(52)" or "(32)"."

Is this a magnatune issue? Thanks a lot!.

Fixed in commit 044ed3c7. The Magnatune catalogue has 2 separate genre tags. One is 'mp3genre', which we were using before. That one has the numbers in it. The other is 'magnatunegenres', which has a comma-separated list of genres. So the plugin now uses that for the tracks in the Magnatune source.

Downloaded files still have the numbers in the genre field, but there's nothing we can do about that.
