I can't reproduce, who is your exact version of gedit?

I am using 2.29.92 (Ubuntu lucid), it's been like this for as long as I can remember but yesterday I finally reached the stage where I thought I should file a bug.

Just to be sure we are talking about the same thing, I am doing:

Ctrl+F to bring up find box
Ctrl+A with cursor in the find box to select all text, which selects all the text in the document

I can reproduce this with 2.30.0-0ubuntu1, I can't remember though what the expected behaviour is.

Well it would seem logical to me for it to select all of the text in the find textbox.

For example, you hit ctrl+F to search for a string, and type in a word. Rather than using backspace it is much quicker to use ctrl+A to select all of the text and start typing the next string you want to look for. But only when the focus is on the search box.

Or is this only me? Does this behaviour go against some Gnome spec or something?

Actually, on further testing it seems ctrl+c will copy what's selected in the document, or if nothing is selected in the document, will copy what's selected in the search box. That too seems backwards to me, but I guess that's a separate issue.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
