Description Rick Dearman 2010-03-21 09:59:04 UTC
Previous versions of the gnome desktop allowed users to disable the touchpad. Version 2.28.1 seems to have removed this functionality. It means it is impossible to turn off and is a reason for many users to go back to windows.

I simply cannot stand having all the work I have just typed wiped out because my wrist gets tired and touches the touchpad, which highlights the text and wipes out everything with the next letter I touch.

While minor as a bug. It is a major usability factor. I tell you this as I sit here with my laptop and a huge swipe of masking tape over the touchpad as a work-around to this issue.

Please, Please, Please, Please, PUT THE ABILITY TO DISABLE THIS BLOODY THING BACK INTO THE MOUSE CONFIGURATION APPLET!
