GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 612944
Print / Print preview retains reverse orientation setting
Last modified: 2014-03-30 14:46:06 UTC
Steps to reproduce: 1. File -> Print 2. Page Setup tab 3. Change orientation to "Reverse Portrait" 4. Click Print Preview or Print 5. Close gEdit 6. Open another document 7. Click print preview Reverting to normal orientation requires steps 1-4, with orientation being set to "Portrait". Results: The newly-opened document is still shown with reverse-portrait orientation. Expected Results: Since the demonstrated behavior would in general would not be expected by the user, especially if some time had elapsed since the previous usage of gEdit, the orientation should be in portrait mode on each new session of gEdit, until changed by the user. Recommended resolution: Do not save print orientation for future sessions of gEdit. If it is desired to provide the option to preserve the printing orientation, provide a preference option for default print orientation that can be set by the user. Testing Platform: gEdit 2.28.0, Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit
Created attachment 170460 [details] [review] Proposed patch to reset the print orientation on page setup save This is a proposed patch to reset the print orientation to portrait when saving the print settings on application close, so as to prevent user confusion the next time they do a print preview with a new document.
I can't duplicate this with gedit 3.3.5 on Ubuntu 12.04 Beta. After closing gedit and reopening, gedit reverts to Portrait.
Yeah, I cannot reproduce this either. Let's close it. Please reopen if you still see it with new gedit versions
