I think the subject says it all; it's annoying to have the mixer default
to the previous state of the system.  And when I've set the volume
precisely where I want it and then mute, log out and log in, it resets
the volume to zero, so I have to reset it again to exactly the right
pixel location.

Saving the volume and mute status in a config file on logout would
alleviate this problem.

If I get time, I'll investigate a patch, as I recall this applet's code
is quite transparent.  I understand upstream will probably ignore it,
because gonme 2 is so close, but it would be nice if woody could release
with this.
