GTK+ Tutorial in XML DocBook

Currently, the GTK+ tutorial is in sgml format. It would be nice if it were in DocBook XML, also to be able to easily translate it. Attached is the XML version of the current sgml file.

Please wait until bug 605333 is resolved, since it contains a number of patches against the tutorial.
Comment 3 Claude Paroz 2010-04-22 18:22:57 UTC
My patch is now in master.
http://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/commit/?id=4d1cf25080c2208936580667df544e14638db06f
I'm keeping the bug open until someone can verify that the document can be properly built with gnome-doc-utils.
Comment 4 Claude Paroz 2010-04-22 19:14:48 UTC
Patch reverted, waiting for approval of gnome-doc-utils dependency.
Comment 5 Stefan Sauer (gstreamer, gtkdoc dev) 2010-04-22 20:10:56 UTC
hmm, I would merge that tutorial to gtk's api docs (like is has been done for gobject tutorial some years ago).

The benefit is that it would then be xref'ed with the api docs and there is no gnome-doc-utils dependency. Also developers would find it in devhelp. Not sure how many people look in yelp for developer guides.
Comment 6 Claude Paroz 2010-04-22 20:32:39 UTC
My interest with the g-d-u toolchain is the ability to translate it. I'm afraid it might be difficult to do it if it is in the api docs, right?
Comment 7 Stefan Sauer (gstreamer, gtkdoc dev) 2010-04-23 15:48:57 UTC
Yes. Gtk-doc documents are just docbook xml documents as well. So far noone has tried to translate them.
Comment 8 Matthias Clasen 2011-01-04 16:11:12 UTC
the tutorial has been dropped from gtk3
