Patch to fix segfault while shutting down

When shutting down, self can be freed in applet_destroy while
timeout() is being called, which results in a segfault. This
patch properly removes the timeout handler before freeing self.

Included is a patch to fix the problem.

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.
