printed output of the problem area with sideways text shifting to cell above

Severity is probably more than "normal", since the printout is unacceptable as is and I don't know how to get it to print the way I need (the way it is supposed to).

I am stuck, for the moment, on Fedora 10. I had all the updates before yum ceased updating this version.

I have my page set up for landscape printing on 8.5" by 11" paper. All was well, even when I decided to add sideways text. Got a surprise when I tried to print. The sideways text does *not* appear where it is supposed to. I think it would be easier to show the problem than to describe it. Here's a link to a screen snapshot of how it looks on the screen before I print it:

I don't know of a place that will host pdf files, so I will try to attach the pdf to this posting. The pdf file shows the way it ends up on paper.

Here's an attempt to describe it in words:
Before I input the sideways text, I joined the cells that the text would span. I chose to center the text both vertically & horizontally. I entered the text. I rotated the text counterclockwise, one quarter turn. On screen, it looks correct. On paper, the text has shifted to the cell above, and aligned to the bottom of that cell (left-aligned relative to the sideways text itself).

A search of bugzilla for the term "WYSIWYG" did not show anything quite like this.

A subsequent search for the terms "landscape sideways" offered only 3 items for the Gnumeric product, none of which seemed applicable.

Rotated text printing was broken in ancient versions of Gnumeric. 1.8.x is such an old version. Current version is 1.10.0

In 1.9.3 we had: Fix printing of rotated text. [#539734]
In 1.9.5 we had: Fix printing of rotated text (negative angles or non-default alignment). [#574813]

I am not sure which (if any) of these two bugs are causing your problem. WOuld you be able to attach teh gnumeric file and we can determine whether printing works correctly in a current version?

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug.
This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but we are happy to tell you that the problem has already been fixed. It should be solved in the next software version. You may want to check for a software upgrade.

574813 appears to have been the wrong bug number...
