Description António Lima 2010-02-15 00:25:08 UTC
I'm having gnome-shell flickering many times when notifications pop-up or when I open the panel clock.

The screen just gets dark for very short periods of time (e.g. less then a second.

I'm using the proprietary nvidia drivers with fedora 12.

I confirm this.

I'm having the exact same issues on Ubuntu Karmic with Gnome Shell from the Ricotz PPA. My graphics card is GeForce FX5700 and I use the newest binary drivers available for this card (from the Karmic repos).

I've been advised on the Gnome Shell IRC channel to try using the CLUTTER_VBLANK=none environment variable. This does makes things a little better as the flickering is far less frequent, but it still happens, mainly with notifications.
