My regular laptop screen resolution is 1280x800. I have an external monitor with a native resolution of 1680x1050. When I switch to using just the external monitor (through Fn+F8) the desktop background appears to be wrongly sized, as it thinks the resolution is actually much larger - the aspect ratio of the background thumbnails and the virtual desktop thumbnails confirms this (see screenshot). And actually, taking a screenshot of the whole desktop confirm this.

I'm having this exact same problem, image attached.
I must add that this is not a nautilus problem, because i told gnome to not render the desktop or the background(using config-editor) and used pcmanfm instead to render my desktop and wallpaper, it works fine but it has the same problem.
I didn't have that problem in xfce, maybe because the menu bar is on the bottom, and that somehow creates a barrier.
I tried adding another gnome-panel and it went all the way down where i can't see it, but strangely i can delete it right clicking in the desktop in the area where its supposed to be.

The panel part is a lie, it is where its supposed to be, but that doesn't help, i can just click below it and the panel its supposed to be at the bottom of the page.

Does this still occur?
