GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 609647
Notes removed when a file is renamed
Last modified: 2010-02-18 09:25:12 UTC
When renaming a file that has a note attached to it, the note is lost. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a new directory or file in Nautilus (e.g. newdir) 2. Right click on the new file, select Properties 3. Click on the Notes tab, enter a note in the text box and click Close 4. The file icon changes to indicate that a note is attached to it 5. Selected the file and rename it (e.g. renameddir) Expected behaviour The note stays attached to the file when it is renamed Actual behaviour When renaming the file, the file icon reverts to the normal icon and the note is lost. When renaming the file again to its original name, the icon reverts to the note icon and the note is available again. See the original bug in Ubuntu Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/520259
Probably notes is just a joke feature. Who can expect that renaming can kill the notes? By the way, Bug 609813 can be merged to this.
